I talk to myself sometimes. We all do. But when you talk to yourself, how do you address the person you’re talking to? When you’re going over a list of all the things you have to do today, do you tell yourself “I have to do this” or “You have to do this”? For some reason, I’ve always said “We have to do this.” As if I share my responsibilities with other people that live inside my head. I think that’s why I never feel lonely. I don’t need other people around me to feel like I’m not alone, because I’ve always felt like a we.
Sometimes we have dance parties.
Epic night of L4D2.
I don’t think I can say I’m not a griefer anymore. My XBL rating says otherwise, lol. But I think it’s justified when I do it. Like when I spend 4 levels saving your ass and putting us in the lead and you kick me because of something that was YOUR fault. As far as I’m concerned, I earned that lead, and I can take it away if I want to. Or kill you/let the other team kill you and continue to score all the points myself, just to emphasize how worthless you are.
I don’t think I played one game tonight that didn’t have at least one pair of split-screeners on each team. Which drives me crazy, because they’re teams of 4, and you need a majority to votekick someone, so you’re stuck with them until they ragequit. Which I don’t understand at all, because the people who ragequit are the ones who are so terrible at this game they could never win in a competitive mode, so what’s the point of joining Versus games if you’re only going to play 2 levels and then quit?
Two splitscreeners on my team were really driving me crazy, because they were beyond horrible. If you suck at this game, you shouldn’t be playing Versus, but these guys were beyond sucking. They just lacked common sense. So I got sick of saving their asses and left them behind, which is the only reason we were winning. They get pissed and start griefing me, and it escalates until we’re just trying to kill each other instead of killing zombies. You can guess who came out on top lol. But I felt bad because someone else joined the team (who also sucked, but sucked at Versus, not the game in general, so it’s excusable…you’ve gotta play to learn). So he got sucked into the whole grief fest and when the splitscreeners finally left, he kept it up. But it’s funny, we would only grief each other as the Survivors…when we were the Infected we took out our anger on the other team, so we still destroyed them.
Eventually we ended up moving on and just playing cooperatively, maybe because two other players (who didn’t suck) joined our team, or maybe we just mutually came to the realization that our fighting was pointless. I’m just really amused at how much you can communicate nonverbally through video game characters. Like giving someone pain pills is the zombie apocalypse version of smoking a peace pipe.
Other highlights:
- Two survivors somehow getting trapped in a room outside the map, and our team not being able to kill them because, unknown to them, we were all stuck in the room with them and they were blocking all the spawn points.
- The more I play, some character lines get stale, but others get funnier and funnier every time I hear them. Especially Rochelle’s “KNIGHTS of COLUMBUS!!” and Coach’s “CRAZY LEEEEEGS!!!”.
- I was actually forced to use a hunting rifle several times today, after I just ranted to someone about how much I hate the scoped weapons and don’t have the patience to learn how to use them effectively. I actually managed to do pretty well with it. Must be the Adderall?
- Sometimes I wish I could hear the other team. Like when I annoy the shit out of them all level with a Spitter and then eventually take all four out with one spit. Fun, but it’d be so much more fun to hear their “OMG THAT FUCKING SPITTER AGAIN”
- I wish they rolled the credits (i.e. kill stats) at the end of a Versus game like they do at the end of Campaign mode. I’d like to see just how much more Special Infected I kill than my other 3 teammates combined.
